By choreographer Angelica Burgos, The Door Between Worlds focuses on moments of transition and transformation, using doors as physical metaphors for the unknown, uncertain, and unstable. Each of the dancers’ experiences with transformation shaped one of the piecee’s movements, presenting a variety of persepctives on dancing, womanhood, and growing up.

The focus on changing spaces required me to light the doors differently throughout the piece - whether as portals to the unknown, objects of distant fascination, or as thresholds of power to be claimed, conquered, and overcome. The goal was to reflect the countless percpetions of and reactions to transition, contained in the few stories of Burgos’ piece.
